Series Book13-
Pandemic, Cyberspace + Homo Maskus
In 2020, although the world's top pharmaceutical companies succeeded in developing
vaccines leading to expectations that the COVID-19 crisis would end soon, contrary to
expectations, the momentum of the global pandemic is not fading. What is clear, however,
is that no matter when the threat of COVID-19 ends, in order not to repeat the tragic cost
and chaos which has ensued, mankind must fully prepare for the post-COVID era.
『Pandemic, Cyberspace + Homo Maskus』 is a book that unravels the various questions
that COVID-19 poses to humankind and the solutions to them through the eyes of humanities
scholars from various fields, including literature, media, law/politics, philosophy, and medicine
who have joined together under the Institute of Body & Culture and completed the book
through in-depth discussion and research.
As with other infectious diseases before, COVID-19 will eventually become manageable
and humankind will return to daily life. However, that daily life will inevitably be completely
different from the past. I hope that this book will become a small window into the future for
all those who wait for this unfamiliar world with either excitement or fear.
