Series Book - Sex, Love, Violence

Not all love is ideal. In Korea, an average of 7,000 people have been victimized by violence,
including sexual violence, by their dating partners. How should we look at dating violence?
Is it becoming a social issue? What is love in modern society? A book about love and the
dilemma of romantic love, Sex, Love, Violence has been published.

In Chapter 1, the author describes the disappearance of the distance between people, which
is nothing more than a visual phenomenon in modern society and the combination of true souls.
Chapter 2 “Love, Mask of sex” discusses the relationship between sex and love from
Schopenhauer's point of view. Based on the woman's lifestyle, it explores the nature of love and
discusses the philosophical implications of sex and love. Chapter 3 describes how
sex-love-violence has strengthened the family-based reproduction ideology and male-centered
desire structure. Chapter 4 “Active Measures to Embrace the Violent Past” explains how the public
in modern media society re-experience trauma and what active measures to deal with the trauma
are available. It also critically reviews the limitations of popular models in trauma studies and highlights
ways to cope with trauma. Chapter 5 “Dating Violence” accounts for dating violence which our society
has not shed light on. It discusses the process of dating violence as a social issue and relevant legal
matters. On the basis of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," chapter 6 explores what messages violent lyrics
resonating through national disasters and victims' memorials deliver to the public and how the lyrics
became a national anthem of the 21st century. Chapter 7 discusses the problems arising from the
differences between literature and the real world in marriage and romantic love. It presents the modern
outlook of love portrayed in novels and explains love as the building of truth through the difference
between the two. In the last chapter “Song of Sex, Love, and Violence,” the author discusses sexuality
and love based on David H. Hwang’s M. Butterfly.
