  Ethics of human and non-human symbiosis Living in the age of the Anthropocene, it becomes commonsensical that we are
earthbound, and we need to denounce the ontological assumptions of modernity based on the hyperseparation between
humans and nonhumans.
  Modernity disembodied itself by opposing mind to body, subject to object, and agents to patients to exclude latter terms
from its privileged monopoly of rationality. Rational means human autonomy, freedom, and transcendence.
  The consequences, though unintended, have been human alienation not only from nonhuman nature but also from their own
bodies and communities. Climate changes and ruined ecosystems prove that humans and nonhumans coevolve and mind is
material as much as the matter is spiritual. Everything is related to and depends on each other in the symbiotic choreography of
world-making. No individual entity, mind, or matter exists without and before relation. Then the task we have to undertake is ethical
and practical as well as theoretical. Based on such recognition of human and nonhuman symbiosis, we must change our way of
thinking, doing, and living so that our damaged ecosystems recover their equilibrium. Indeed we hear tragic choruses chanting
that it is too late.
  However, the future is not ontically determined: it is ontological and performative, as Yeats rhapsodically uttered, "How can we
know the dancer from the dance?" Hope is the rule of the game of beings, organic or inorganic, virtual or actual. This conference
calls us to imagine and build more sustainable earth and livable environment. We invite everyone to answer the call "Ethics
of human and nonhuman symbiosis."
